31 May Capital 19’s Mike Smith Wins 2019 John Coyne Memorial Matchplay Final

Congratulations to Capital 19’s Senior Advisor Michael Smith (pictured right) in his achievement of winning the 2019 John Coyne Memorial Matchplay Final, held on May 25 at The Lakes Golf Course.

The final was contested between pairings of David Deverich & Michael Smith who versed young guns Lachlan Starkey & Jackson Fearns. The golf course was presented in fabulous condition and coupled with the perfect conditions for golf, it set the stage for some fun and exciting golf by all the teams.

Team Starkey and Fearns raced to an early lead, however, the steadiness of Deverich and Smith was evident through 10 holes as they were able to walk off this green, square with their opponents.

Deverich and Smith then lost the 14th and 15th holes before mounting a fightback. On the 18th tee Deverich and Smith were 1 up before Michael hit his tee shot to within 8 feet of the back right flag. Michael then managed to sink the birdie putt in order to capture the 2019 John Coyne Memorial title for his team.
